Where I’ve Eaten This Month: April 2022

Flor Bakery, found at Spa Terminus in London, is now offering home delivery of their sought after treats made with organic and heritage grains. Imagine a (home compostable) box of goodies arriving on your doorstep on a Friday morning filled with hot cross buns, croissants, rhubarb and vanilla danish pastries and bite size gluten free brown butter cakes.  They also have sourdough and rye loaves and the newest addition to the menu are luxurious laminated brioche buns.

The Counter at Sabor is the perfect spot for a spontaneous lunch a deux or solo. A daily changing menu of the freshest fish, regional dishes from Baque country and Catalonia, and seasonal specialities form a short and tempting menu. Calcots grilled with Romanesco are the thing to order right now. Or try the unctuous mini Txistorra tortilla, studded with spiced sausage and gilded with dollop of mayonnaise. Just off Regent street on Heddon street, the small seafood counter welcomes walk in customers and also takes reservations.

Maison Francois, in the heart of the west end, makes the perfect place for lunch or dinner after a gallery visit or west end show. Step off Duke St James’ into a fabulous grand dining room with high ceilings and cosy banquettes. If you’re keen on seasonality, go now for the white asparagus, served with vinaigrette, bottarga and toasted sourdough crumbs. Or cocktail lovers can skip downstairs to Frank’s bar to kick off the evening.
